A cross-section of a test specimen is painted on a computer screen by B-Scan, Real Time Imaging System. Pits and corroded areas are clearly shown by the rises and dips on the screen image.

A vertical depth scale at the left of the image and a horizontal distance scale at the bottom of the image gives the technician an estimate of the width and depth of an effected area. A user movable set of crosshairs can be used to define depth and width of defects with greater accuracy. The depth and position of the crosshairs is indicated at the right side of the image.

Because the B-Scope operates under the MS-Windows environment, screen images are easily saved for later use in reports and defect evaluation.
