Through alliance partnering
agreements, Owensby & Kritikos, Inc. (O&K) has the ability
to provide this technology for our existing Master Service
Agreement customers and potential customers. Competitively
priced, this inspection technology allows for rapid set-up of
collars that secure a multiple array of transducers to come in
contact with the external surface of a pipe. Currently, the
equipment is capable of handling collars from 2-inch diameter to
42-inch diameter.
With one set-up or installation of
a collar on a 6-inch pipe, the G-Scan system can transmit
torsional sound waves up to 250 feet in each direction. Known
factors that hinder the amount of footage inspected in one
set-up or can have influence on the technology are items such as
extensive corrosion either internal wall or external.
Bitumastic coatings can also dampen the sound waves.
Once the collar is in place the
G-Scan system is capable of emitting sound waves in multiple
frequencies. The sound waves reflect anomalies and evaluate
them via a software analytical database. Results are immediate
and investigation of the anomalies can begin with the ability to
accurately measure out the distance from indication back to the
collar.
APPLICATIONS
This testing procedure is ideal
for piping systems that are insulated, long runs of elevated
pipe rack circuits, ground entry, marine dock piping over water
and evaluation of piping at pipe supports.
