NDE Inspection Service

O&K maintains a division of non-destructive testing personnel that are certified to perform NDE in multiple disciplines that includes radiography with iridium 192, cobalt 60 and for more sensitive work, a 150 KV X-ray unit.

We are equipped to handle all of the dye-penetrant and magnetic particle requirements of any weld configuration and joint geometry encountered in the construction, chemical/refining and manufacturing industries. 

O&K maintains a core group of ultrasonic inspectors who are certified to perform flaw examination of AWS-TKY joints and those requiring API certification for the chemical and refining industries.

The company currently provides radiography inspection for new fabrication of pressure vessels at three ASME code shops in Louisiana.  NDE services are also furnished for three valve manufacturers and one of the world’s largest manufacturers of wellhead equipment.

Visual Inspections

O&K offers a variety of expertise with visual inspectors supporting all facets of manufacturing and new construction for large and small projects.  We have serviced our client’s needs by furnishing visual inspection services in the fields of the offshore construction industry monitoring new construction of jackets and production decks. 

We have provided project construction personnel on construction up-grades of producing facilities both on land and offshore.  We have staff API-510, 570 and 653 personnel that serve as quality control and quality assurance inspectors on chemical, refining and pipeline projects.  API personnel also function as permanent on-site representatives supporting client inspection departments on a full time basis.

O&K has supported our customer’s inspection requirements on pipe mill manufacturing projects for pipelines and pipe tendons for deep water floating SPARS.  These projects were completed in foreign mills in Italy, Germany and Japan.  We have furnished NACE certified coating inspectors for the oil and gas industry for over twenty-five years. 

Mechanical Integrity Inspections (OSHA 1910.119)

O&K maintains a proficient group of visual and NDE inspectors that perform site-specific evaluations for our customers that assist them in meeting the requirements of the 1910.119 criteria.  Our inspectors have worked in a variety of plant applications ranging from pipeline booster stations and gas compression facilities, to refineries, bulk oil and product terminal facilities and chemical plants in multiple states along the Gulf Coast.

These inspections range in complexity and include performing visual inspections on piping, pressure vessels and above ground storage tanks that meet the intent of the guidelines.  Inspections may also include non-destructive testing using UT and profile Radiography to measure remaining wall criteria on pipe and pressure vessels. 

We also have a supporting engineering and data management department that inputs data in analytical software programs that monitor wall loss data, calculates allowable pressure, short term, long term corrosion rates and summarizes critical data.  This data can be reported in one of two formats by using O&K's Pipe Stat data software or Ultra-Pipe.  (Owensby & Kritikos, Inc. is a licensed Ultra-Pipe user). All databases have been written to have Internet access so the customer has an opportunity to review and secure data real time from our managed engineering reporting system.

Refinery/Chemical Plant Onstream Inspections

Excellent performance and consistent work ethics allows O&K to participate in long-term contracts.  Some customer relationships have endured over sixteen years.  Management’s commitment to safety and training are additional reasons for considering O&K for your in-plant inspection requirements.  We have a full time Safety Engineer who maintains training programs that meet the industry requirements for OSHA and current required safety programs for over thirty-five full and part time customers. 

The company currently maintains six plant on-stream inspection programs.  These programs range from furnishing visual inspection to UT data acquisition to full complement of NDE services required at refining and chemical plant operations.
